Prevent identity theft and phishing

Phishing is when a website “fakes” a financial site to try and trick you into entering your passwords or bank account information. Normally they do this by emailing you with spam, saying “your account is overdrawn” or “your account will be terminated”, etc. These are all obviously fake but many people continue to fall for these phishing scams. Remember that banks or financial sites like Ebay will NEVER email you and tell you to go to their website to enter your information for any type of reason like this.Be alert if you get garbage mails like this! A simple rule to follow is simply to NEVER click links to financial institutions in your email! This means you can go to the website if you are concerned, but don’t go there by clicking the email link, instead open a browser and go there via your own bookmark or by typing in the URL.
